Managers workshop By PURE VISION UK Ltd
We commissioned Angela Egan from PURE VISION UK to provide
a training workshop for our team of managers and key personnel
from our five health & beauty salons in early February
2006. This more than exceeded our expectations as the teams
left motivated and excited about the possibilities for increasing
standards and sales in their individual salons.
Angela is a natural communicator with a deep understanding
and enthusiasm for retail and the spa industry. Her approach
is one of calm professionalism and easy charm, which ensured
everyone left the training with inspired ideas, new skills
and an understanding of how they could put these into practice.
The managers found the checklists and training summaries easy
to follow and implement with their salon team and this has
seen the standards throughout the business becoming greatly
improved and consistent.
As semi-finalists in the Health & Beauty Awards we naturally
pride ourselves on our ability to provide high quality treatments
and exceptional customer care, but it is always valuable to
have these standards audited by an independent professional
who is able to help us maintain these high standards.

The
training and development received by our trained therapists
and reception staff has been fundamental to the on-going success
of our retail sales performance in the spa.
As the spa manager at Hotel du Vin Birmingham I am responsible
for the performance and development of the spa team in the
hotel portfolio, as well as up-holding the very high standards
our hotel guests and spa visitors associate with the Hotel
du Vin and Malmaison group.
We wanted to establish standards that all of our staff understood,
and to which they could aspire. Our vision was to generate
skills for each of our team which would safeguard the current
client experience whilst ensuring we were consistent across
the group. Our objective was to create a level of service
where our spa members noticed the difference and our hotel
guests wanted to repeat their visit as soon as possible.
It was from the understanding of how the guest experience
affects the brand name and our overall sales performance that
we decided to work with Angela Egan and the team at PURE VISION
UK. I had every confidence that they could assist us with
achieving this objective by providing training on retail skills
to therapists and spa staff.
The response by everyone who attended the course was highly
positive and since the training we have seen significant growth
in conversion rates, up-selling of treatments and average
client spend. There has been a tangible change in some of
our more reticent staff, who previously struggled to achieve
retail sales targets - this is not only because Angela has
a working knowledge of being a therapist but also because
she uses her understanding of an individual's needs to help
them discover a style they feel confident using.
